Gwen Stefani made the sad announcement

Gwen Stefani Reflects on Career Regrets: “I Should Have Just Been With My Family”

In April 2024, Gwen Stefani opened up in an emotional interview about one of the most difficult realizations of her career. The singer, now 54, admitted that she regrets choosing work over family during some of the most important years of her children’s lives.

“I should have just been with my family,” she confessed, explaining how the pressure to deliver creatively with her band No Doubt clashed with the demands of raising her three sons, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. After the birth of her second child, she recalled feeling exhausted, insecure, and “creatively dead.” The guilt of leaving her children at home while trying to fulfill her professional obligations weighed heavily on her.

Stefani also revealed that her relationships with her bandmates carried unresolved tension. The group, who last performed together in 2015, has not fully addressed the emotional strains that built up over years of performing and recording. “We probably need to go to therapy,” she admitted, suggesting that the distance between them goes deeper than scheduling conflicts or artistic differences.

Though her reflections were filled with sadness, Stefani also expressed gratitude for the clarity she has gained. Today, she is focused on family life, co-parenting with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, and enjoying her marriage to country star Blake Shelton. She spoke warmly about spending more time with loved ones, grounding herself in everyday moments on Shelton’s Oklahoma farm.

Her words carry the weight of a sad announcement: even with fame and success, she feels she missed out on irreplaceable time. Yet they also reveal a hopeful truth—that she has found peace by putting family first.
