Would You Go 7 Days Without Bathing or Internet for $5 Million?

Would You Go 7 Days Without Bathing or Internet for $5 Million?

The premise is simple yet extreme. For one week, you give up hygiene and all digital connection. No social media, no news, no texting, no streaming. And not even a quick rinse in the shower. Your only companion? Water. It’s a test of mental strength, physical tolerance, and perhaps your will to disconnect and reset.

The idea taps into modern-day dependence on connectivity and comfort. Most of us can’t go a few hours without checking our phones, let alone an entire week. On the flip side, the reward—$5 million—is life-changing. You could pay off debt, buy a home, invest, travel the world, or never work again. But is a week of discomfort and isolation worth it?

Physically, seven days without bathing can be manageable, though uncomfortable. Your body won’t fall apart, but you’ll feel greasy, sweaty, and possibly irritated. Psychologically, the lack of stimulation from screens and the outside world could either be liberating or maddening, depending on your mindset.

What makes this challenge fascinating is how different people would respond. Some would jump at the chance, viewing it as easy money and a much-needed detox. Others might hesitate, concerned about boredom, hygiene, or their mental health. It becomes a personal question: how much is your comfort and connection worth?

So—would you do it? Are you in or out? For many, the temptation of $5 million makes the answer a quick “yes.” After all, a week is just seven days. But for others, the thought of total isolation and filth might be too high a price. The question may sound simple, but your answer says a lot about your priorities in a hyperconnected world.
