When an old woman wearing shabby clothes entered an upscale restaurant

When an old woman in shabby clothes walked into a fancy restaurant, everyone laughed and sought to eject her, but then something strange happened. The time was 7 p.m. An elderly woman walked up to the front door of the priciest eatery in town.

She was dressed in a plain wool cap, rubber boots, and a faded gray coat that had lost a button. She appeared to have accidentally strolled in. It was quite different inside, with guys in tuxedos, women in evening dresses, candles, crystal glasses, and the scents of fine dining.

She entered, and rumors began to circulate among the tables. One person scoffed, while another rolled their eyes:

— Why is that woman homeless here?
A waiter came up to her, grinning artificially, gave her a quick glance, and said:

We apologize, but there aren’t any tables available.

However, a few of tables were obviously empty.

A second waiter, a young man with gentle eyes, approached just as the woman was ready to turn around and go.

He pulled out a chair for her and said, “Please, come in.” There is always space for a visitor.

The elderly woman nodded appreciatively despite her rather perplexed expression. She carefully hung her coat on the chair’s back after removing it. She took a seat. However, then a really surprising event occurred

She was given the menu by the young man. After a minute, she stated calmly
— The creamy porcini mushroom soup and the duck breast with pomegranate sauce seem good to me. together with a nice glass of red wine.

The waiter’s eyebrows went up a little:

I apologize, ma’am, but it’s just Everything in this place is quite costly.

The elderly woman smiled a little.

I am aware. This money has been in my savings for a long time. I offered my kids and grandkids my whole being. I made a sacrifice, I assisted, and I saved. However, they have long since forgotten my identity. They don’t pick up when I call. Some even advised me to call before visiting.

She stopped and turned to face the table. Then went on:

I was recently diagnosed with cancer by the physicians. sophisticated. Only a week or a month remains. I reasoned that I should feel human at least once in my life if this is the end. Not a burden. A visitor. Just a movie-style woman who can afford to eat dinner. Beside her, the young man stood in silence. He had sparkling eyes. He gave a soft nod:

If so, this will be the most amazing dinner you have ever had. Trust me. Her order was on the tray when he returned, along with a glass of the restaurant’s most costly wine and a dessert that was “compliments of the chef.”

She ate leisurely and gently all evening. She took in some live music. People looked at her in bewilderment at first, but then they stopped listening completely.
